So often the world has negative views about motherhood; especially mothers who stay at home. People may claim that these women are wasting the education they have gained by staying at home with children and being a full-time homemaker, but there is something they just don't realize or understand.
When the math is done, if a wife of a home chooses to work for 'extra money', there really isn't any gain. In fact, most times the outcome is negative. There is daycare to pay for, countless extra school activities, eating out more, more transportation, etc. all because the money is there... but is it? Research shows that women working even part-time creates more expenses than if they would stay home and care for their children themselves, rather than paying another person or organization to do so.
Something else is lost in women working outside the home. This is the attachment and love between a child and her mother. If a child has not had a set schedule, or is being raised by x amount of people, they are confused, and often become desensitized by what is going around them. They often begin to not even care. They grow up never really knowing their mother.
This is not to drag on mothers who do work. There are very understandable circumstances where a mother needs to work. But if a father is able to work full-time, a family can surely make it through, even if on beans and rice for a season.
The bottom line is that being a stay at home mother and wife adds something to the family that cannot be found anywhere else. It creates an atmosphere of more trust between children and parents, and helps children learn more from their mother's wise counsel and the education she has previously gained. Being a mother is a sacrifice, but not of education. I have chosen to gain an education so I can further understand my future children and be the best mother I can be for them; giving them every opportunity to grow, learn, love, and be loved. I want my children to know I am always here for them, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Being a mother is something so beautiful and divine; a very calling from Heavenly Father. Motherhood is priceless.
